Baralith® Oxywet
More oxygen for the plants
Baralith Oxywet is used as an additive in peat- and coco based soil mixtures. The product has absolutely unique properties for increasing the oxygen content and move the water around in the pot.
With the product, the level of oxygen at the bottom of the pot, increases very fast with a saturation of around 20% O2. The root gets maximum conditions for water and nutrient intake. The oxygen levels increases in the entire substrate but mostly at the bottom and in the middle of the pot. In a soil mixture without the product the oxygen levels the oxygen levels are usually very low (around < 5% O2) at the bottom without increasing much between the watering sessions. At this oxygen level, the root will cease to function and dies from lack of oxygen.
Baralith Oxywet acts as a natural wetting agent that doesn´t affect or gets used up in the soil mix. That’s why the effect stays permanently in the mix, at the grower and consumer. The product doesn’t disturb the peat- fiber wax and doesn’t increase the breakdown of substrates as many of it’s chemical counterparts does.
A soil mixture of Oxywet takes up and hold water faster and better. This is due to the fact
that Oxywet is hydrophilic and carry water better than peat- and coco fibers. The water is
spread around from the product mineral to the peat- and coco fiber.
Baralith Oxywets strong lifting powers helps the water spread more evenly and higher
up the pot.
The water transports the oxygen
When the water is moved around the pot, it brings along oxygen with it and that
naturally increase the oxygen levels in the substrate, especially at the bottom of the pot, look at the diagram. Around 5.5 cm depth in the growth-pot without the product the oxygen level is 18.5 % and with the product it reaches 68%. By 6.5 cm depth down the pot – the oxygen levels without the product is around 0 %, and with the product around 23 % oxygen.
Pots with Oxywet can keep up to 70% more water under the first 10-15 minutes of watering.
Usage and dosage
Baralith Oxywet is used as an additive to peat- and coco based soil mixtures.
The product is used as a natural wetting agent that keeps the peat moist
and spreads evenly the water in the growth pot. Because of this, oxygen gets
transported to the bottom of the pot very fast. The product should be mixed
well with the soil. The recommended mixture is around 6-8 kg Baralith® Oxywet/m3 peat.
When handling, take care and use a mask with a particle filter.
Baralith Oxywet doesn´t have any limescale effect and thus won’t affect the pH value.
The mineral doesn’t get decomposed or affected in the mixture.
