Heutinck Nordkirchen

A specialist in perennial plant production

Heutinck is a specialist in perennial plant nurseries, with a total of four locations and one of which is in Germany. The entire group produces 7 million plants annually, with approximately 2.5 million of them grown in P9 pots at the German site in Nordkirchen.

Gerrie Wolters is responsible for production at the Nordkirchen site. With many years of experience within the company, he possesses extensive knowledge of perennial species and how to cultivate them successfully. According to Gerrie, certain species grown under glass require Bara Clay.

– With Bara Clay, we can grow plants more compactly. By retaining nutrients, crops maintain better coloration. We’ve also found that when the substrate dries out, mixes containing Bara Clay reabsorb water immediately, he explains. The amount of Bara Clay in the substrate varies from 20 to 40 kg/m³, depending on the mix.
